Penn Libraries Toolbars
About
The Penn Libraries Toolbar is a custom-made web browser extension for University of Pennsylvania students, faculty, and staff.

It provides a persistent search box that allows you to search:

  • The Penn website using Google
  • Penn Library databases, e-journals, FAQs, Library web pages and more using FindIt!
  • Franklin Library Catalog by Title, Keywords, Author and Journal Title
  • VCat, the Library Video Catalog, for Videos and DVD Collections in the Penn Library
  • Databases such as EBSCO Megafile, JSTOR, ABI/Inform, PubMed, ScienceDirect and WorldCat
  • Google and Google Scholar

It also provides links to frequently used Penn and Penn Library websites, Webmail, Ask a Librarian, Blackboard and the Penn Library social bookmarking tool, PennTags.

Firefox Toolbar Installation
Install the Firefox Toolbar Latest Version

NOTE

  • Mozilla Firefox will not install the toolbar until you add upenn.edu to your Allowed Sites List. A yellow bar will appear at the top of your screen alerting you that you are attempting to install software.
  • Click Edit Options and Allow to let Firefox know that it is safe to install extensions from the labs.library.upenn.edu site.
  • Once you have allowed the install, click on Firefox Toolbar Latest Version again to install the toolbar.
  • A dialog box will pop up, informing you that the toolbar will be installed after you restart Firefox.
  • Close all instances of Firefox and restart your browser to view and use the toolbar.
  • Enjoy!
Uninstall Firefox Toolbar
To uninstall the Penn Firefox Toolbar:
    1. Open Firefox.
    2. Select Tools > Add-ons and click Extensions
    3. Select Penn Toolbar and click the Uninstall button.

Internet Explorer Toolbar Installation Instructions
Uninstall Internet Explorer Toolbar
To uninstall the Internet Explorer toolbar:
  1. Close Internet Explorer.
  2. Open the Windows Control Panel (usually: Start Menu > Control Panel)
  3. Choose Add or Remove Programs .
  4. Scroll down to Penn Toolbar and click on it.
  5. Click on Change/Remove
  6. When asked "All running IE Windows will be closed before toolbar's Uninstall. Continue?" , Click  Yes.
